In a recent statement, Nesma Infrastructure & Technology (NIT) in
Saudi Arabia disclosed a significant development by signing a major strategic
package with the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC). The total value of the
contracts involved in this collaboration exceeds SAR 1.3 billion.
The contracts entail the construction and delivery of 16 high-voltage
transmission substations to support the rapid development in the eastern region
of the Kingdom. These fast-track contracts encompass engineering, procurement,
construction, testing & commissioning, and energization of the transmission
substations. The goal is to connect them to the Saudi Arabian national grid
within an approximate delivery timeline of 16 months.
The substations will be executed on a lump sum turnkey basis under the
Network Reinforcement Program for Big Cities. This initiative is designed to
benefit existing cities in the eastern region, facilitating their future
growth.
Additional Projects and Expansion: Collaboration with Saudi Electricity
Co.
NIT secured further projects with the Saudi Electricity Co. involving the
design, construction, and commissioning of two transmission substations,
overhead transmission lines, and connection to the grid. The overall value of
these additional projects is estimated at SAR 800 million, and the delivery
schedule is 20 months.
Project Location and Unique Features:
- Trojena in NEOM
The new projects are situated in the mountainous region of NEOM known as
Trojena. This area is anticipated to become a world-class destination,
featuring the Gulf’s only outdoor skiing venue and year-round adventure sports,
activities, shopping, dining, and entertainment.
Trojena's altitude ranges between 1500 and 2600 meters, providing a
cooler yearly climate. This development aligns with the Kingdom’s strategic
efforts to create distinctive tourist destinations and international scientific
hubs.
