Nesma awarded $347 million in Sub-Station Contracts

 

In a recent statement, Nesma Infrastructure & Technology (NIT) in Saudi Arabia disclosed a significant development by signing a major strategic package with the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC). The total value of the contracts involved in this collaboration exceeds SAR 1.3 billion.

The contracts entail the construction and delivery of 16 high-voltage transmission substations to support the rapid development in the eastern region of the Kingdom. These fast-track contracts encompass engineering, procurement, construction, testing & commissioning, and energization of the transmission substations. The goal is to connect them to the Saudi Arabian national grid within an approximate delivery timeline of 16 months.

The substations will be executed on a lump sum turnkey basis under the Network Reinforcement Program for Big Cities. This initiative is designed to benefit existing cities in the eastern region, facilitating their future growth.

Additional Projects and Expansion: Collaboration with Saudi Electricity Co.

NIT secured further projects with the Saudi Electricity Co. involving the design, construction, and commissioning of two transmission substations, overhead transmission lines, and connection to the grid. The overall value of these additional projects is estimated at SAR 800 million, and the delivery schedule is 20 months.

  • Trojena in NEOM

The new projects are situated in the mountainous region of NEOM known as Trojena. This area is anticipated to become a world-class destination, featuring the Gulf’s only outdoor skiing venue and year-round adventure sports, activities, shopping, dining, and entertainment.

Trojena's altitude ranges between 1500 and 2600 meters, providing a cooler yearly climate. This development aligns with the Kingdom’s strategic efforts to create distinctive tourist destinations and international scientific hubs.
