Major redevelopment works for the Mina Zayed area have been announced for 2024. In 2025, His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan approved the development plans for the Mina Zayed Fisherman's Wharf project. The master plan includes specialized markets for various goods, food and beverage outlets, and a wholesale market. There is also an emphasis on preserving Abu Dhabi's heritage as a port city.
