Key Features of the Emirati Relief Field Hospital in Action

 

In 2023, the Emirati Relief Field Hospital was established in Turkiye to respond to the earthquake that occurred on February 6. Moreover, this humanitarian aid and disaster relief project is facilitating three locations. One is Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Field Hospital in the Reyhanli district of Hatay. Another is the Gaziantep Airport Hospital in Gaziantep. The last one is the Emirates Relief Field Hospital in the Islahiye district of Gaziantep.

Although, United Arab Emirates (UAE) has initiated a significant humanitarian project to provide medical aid, including psychological rehabilitation. As part of this initiative, the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Field Hospital was established in the Reyhanli district of Hatay.

This 200-bed facility includes 20 intensive care beds, two operating rooms, laboratories, and a pharmacy. The hospital was established within five days, showcasing the UAE's rapid deployment capabilities. Furthermore, UAE officials attended the inauguration ceremony, including the ambassador to Turkey and the commander of the Medical Services Corps.

The Emirati rescue teams deployed to Turkey conducted life-saving operations and provided training to Syrian emergency services personnel under the leadership of Lt Col Hamad Al Kaabi. The teams successfully conducted rescue operations, including pulling individuals from the rubble.

Hamad Al Kaabi, the Permanent Representative of the UAE to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), played a crucial role in the UAE's assessment. Moreover, he has been instrumental in ensuring the highest safety, security, and nonproliferation standards in the UAE's nuclear energy program.
